The Hollywood Reporter is stating that Dimension films is in final negotiations to hire French director Pascal Laugier to write and direct a remake of "Hellraiser". Laugier, whose horror film "Martyrs" stirred controversy in his native France, cites original "Hellraiser" writer/director Clive Barker as one of his biggest influences.

The BBC has confirmed that David Tennant, who plays the second Doctor in the revival of "Doctor Who", will be leaving the series after the 2009 specials. Tennant made a statement about his leaving after winning the outstanding drama performance award at the National Television Awards:
“When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won’t be with me,” he said.
“Now don’t make me cry,” he added. “I love this part, and I love this show so much that if I don’t take a deep breath and move on now I never will, and you’ll be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my bath chair. I’ll miss it."

There was a big shakeup Sunday with the staff of NBC's Heroes. As reported by Variety, co-exec producers Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb were both let go.
Alexander and Loeb had been with the show since its first season and were known to have led the day-to-day production operation under the direction of creator/exec producer Tim Kring.

Fangoria reported that Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced their new DVD release of the 1981 cult film "MY BLOODY VALENTINE, to tie in with their theatrical release of the 3-D remake. Due out January 13, this new release WILL have some special features unlike the previous Paramount edition. High up on the special feature list is "never-before-seen lost footage", which we can only hope means the cut scenes from the original film to appease the MPAA back in ’81.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is set to open January 23, 2009. As reported by Sci Fi Wire, in an interview with Kevin Grevioux, who reprises the role of the werewolf Raze, "Rise of the Lycans" will go back to the beginning.

At the 2008 Scream Awards this past Saturday night we saw an alternate version of the San Diego Comic-Con clip for New Line Cinema's Friday the 13th re-make. The clip is now available online for your viewing pleasure RIGHT HERE thanks to the airing of the award ceremony on Spike TV. Variety reports Dimension Films is pulling the trigger on 18 new direct-to-video releases for 2009.
Co-chairman Bob Weinstein said the films will be mostly sequels, prequels, remakes or spin-offs of other Dimension titles. Some of the titles include "Pulse 2", “Dead by Daylight" and new installments of “Children of the Corn”, “Feast”, “Hell Ride” along with “Midnight Man 2” and “Midnight Man 3”, sequels focusing on a villain called the Exterminator.

The latest installment of Resident Evil Degeneration is due out December 30th. This computer-animated film is a straight-to-video release and will be available on Blu-ray, DVD and PSP from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
