Imagicon 2010 - Corset Making Panel

For the past few years, Birmingham has played host to a slowly growing science fiction convention known as ImagiCon, an event which caters to enthusiasts of nearly every realm of the science fiction genre. Scheduled as a weekend event, this year’s convention had upgraded from one location in 2009 to a 3 location event in 2010, with a varied selection of vendors, information booths, informational panels, contests, parties and soirees. Saturday’s array of booths, vendors, costumed cosplayers, media representatives, and honored guests was in no short supply. I had the distinct pleasure of attending a panel hosted by local corset makers Sharon Morgan, Scott Merrill, and Freddy Clements, which covered the basics of do-it-yourself corset construction,

Imagicon 2010 - Final Report

This past weekend, we had the pleasure to visit Imagicon 2010 - a multi-genre convention held in Birmingham, AL. This was year number two for Imagicon. The event was held at multiple venues with the main two locations being "The McWane Center" and "Old Car Heaven". One huge problem with the multiple venues was the distance between them. You had to catch a shuttle which ran every half hour, so there was some considerable time spent waiting. I guess waiting 30 plus minutes for a shuttle beats no shuttle at all but it was frustrating.

The following is more of an editorial rather than a news article. However, I'm posting this in our news section due to the fact that we have no other place to post it. The following are my thoughts and opinions based on personal observations and discussions with others in this industry.

Imagicon 2010 is fast approaching. What is Imagicon you may ask - it's a Science Fiction and Fantasy convention held in Birmingham Alabama.

2010 Full Moon Tattoo and Horror Festival - Recap

We made a surprise trip over to Nashville, TN this past weekend to cover the 9th annual FULL MOON TATTOO & HORROR FESTIVAL. After avoiding numerous thunderstorms and tornadoes in the area, we finally arrived late Saturday afternoon. Shortly after our arrival we started running into old friends including Jim O'Rear, David Polk, Daniel and Amy Taylor and Billy and Heather Tackett.

George Bonilla and Jim O'Rear

Immediately upon arriving at Jim's table, I spied what appeared to be a new book which he has authored. After a brief talk we discovered that he has indeed written a new novel that he has been keeping quiet - Mortuary of Madness: A Tale of Horror. Long story short is that we got our hands on a copy and read/reviewed it right there at Jim's table. You can check out our review here:

Full Moon Tattoo And Horror Festival 2010

The 2010 Full Moon Tattoo and Horror Festival is going on this weekend in Nashville, TN and we've sent a surprise team over to cover the event. So far we've seen our friends Jim O'Rear, David Polk, Daniel and Amy Taylor, Billy and Heather Tackett, George Bonilla and Ken Foree.

We arrived at the show a bit late today due to trying to avoid torrential thunderstorms and tornados in the area. We've got a few photos posted and will post more as we get them so stay tuned.

Our buddy Jim O'Rear has agreed again this year to stand in as guest interviewer. If you remember last years show, Jim did an excellent job interviewing Kane Hodder. We also got an impromptu surprise interview when Jason Mewes ran up to our microphone - singing and then agreeing to do a most hilarious interview. Oh those were good times. So look for some new interviews from what promises to be another fantastic show here in Nashville.
